In recent years Surin Beach has become the springboard for a host of local clothes and furniture designers. You will some of these Bliss, Paul Ropp, Messalina, scattered along Surin Beach High Road. In the center of Surin Beach Village you will find an elegant high end shopping center, Surin Plaza built by a Hong Kong billionaire Alan Zeeman who lives nearby. Surin Plaza has a range of art, antique and design shops which are certainly worth an afternoon visiting. Check out Soul of Asia, owned by another Hong Kong entrepreneur Eric Smulders, as he points out the place is almost a museum with offerings from Dali, Warhol, Picasso and Marc Chagall.
On the more affordable end of the spectrum hunt out some of the smaller Thai clothing shops including Sak Yan T Shirts which produce a range of interesting T Shirts which would make good take-homes for the folks back home.
